Reactivity of the contact tests (patch test) in elderly patients compared to non-elderly at the allergy clinic of the Policlínica Geral do Rio de Janeiro

چکیده
Results Two hundred and thirty six patients were submitted to contact test. Seventy five (31.8%) elderly (> 60 years) and 161 (68.2%) non-elderly (10-59 years). Among elderly, 46 (62.7%) had positive tests, and 29 (37.3%) negative tests. In non-elderly , 112 (69.6%) had positive and 49 (30.4%) negative tests. Despite the difference in positivity between elderly and non-elderly patients, the result was not statistically significant by Chi-square test (p = 0.366). The most frequent sensitizers in the elderly group were fragance-mix (31,9%), Euxyl K – 400 (23,4%), cobalt chloride (23,4%), imidazole derivates (21,3%) and nickel sulfate (21,3%); in the non-elderly group the most frequent contact allergens were nickel sulfate (42,9%), cobalto chloride (42,9%), fragance-mix (26,8%) and imidazole derivate (16,1%). In elderly group, four pacients were over 80 years old, including two positive tests.

In situ stabilization of polypropylene by lignin using a Ziegler-Natta catalyst
A fourth-generation Ziegler-Natta catalyst was prepared to synthesize polypropylene (PP), which was stabilized by in situpolymerization employing lignin as antioxidant. The antioxidant properties of lignin were compared with those of the commercial antioxidant Irganox 1010. The presence of lignin in the reaction medium slightly decreased the catalytic activity of the reaction. The isotacticity ...
متن کاملAntibiotic Resistance and Biofilm Production in Catalase-Positive Gram-Positive Cocci Isolated from Brazilian Pasteurized Milk
Background: Milk is a reservoir for several groups of microorganisms, which may pose health risks. The aim of this work was to assess the antibiotic resistance and biofilm production in catalase-positive Gram-positive cocci isolated from Brazilian pasteurized milk. Methods: The bacteria were isolated using Baird-Parker agar and identified by Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Time-Of-...
متن کاملA fuzzy approach to the evaluation of human factors in ultrasonic nondestructive examinations
Human factors are among the main elements affecting the reliability of nondestructive examinations (NDE). In a man-machine system, human reliability is affected by many factors (performance shaping factors) whose influence on reliability cannot be easily expressed quantitatively. This paper identifies and ranks 59 perform-ance shaping factors by using a fuzzy reasoning method and proposes a pro...
متن کاملInfluence of diethyl zinc on ethylene-norbornene copolymerization
Ethylene-norbornene copolymers were synthesized with a homogeneous catalyst system based on bis(imino) pyridine iron with the addition of diethyl zinc (DEZ) as alkyd transfer agent to promote immortal copolymerization. The addition of DEZ did not influence the catalytic activity in copolymerization with 7.5 mmol of norbornene (NB), but in the reactions with 70 mmol, the comonomer promoted an in...
متن کاملAn Efficiency Studying of an Ion Chamber Simulation Using Vriance Reduction Techniques with EGSnrc
Background: Radiotherapy is an important technique of cancer treatment using ionizing radiation. The determination of total dose in reference conditions is an important contribution to uncertainty that could achieve 2%. The source of this uncertainty comes from cavity theory that relates the in-air cavity dose and the dose to water. These correction factors are determined from Monte Carlo calcu...
